Applications Crash on MacBook Pro Touch Bar

Since the day I upgraded to macOS High Sierra, my MacBook Pro Touch Bar applications crash most of the time. It was not the case before the upgrade from macOS Sierra. Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

Some applications crash at times when system upgrade ignores to address application based behavior.

It’s quite normal that some applications crash whereas others may benefit from the upgrade. System developers expect this to happen. Whereas the concerning application developers need more attention to address such issues. Sometimes, you can simply trash the application and reinstall it. Such fresh installation may resolve the ongoing issues. Otherwise, approaching the developer may come up with some solutions.

When the issues relate to the system itself, restructuring the existing directory may resolve. You can launch Disk Utility to check the integrity of the drive and its directory structures. If the utility check returns the drive and system in good health, you may consider system updates or wait for new updates to rollout.

What if applications crash again and again regardless of application reinstallation and system update applied?

When the behavior of the applications based crash does not stop, it is more likely a hardware issue. Backup data, format the drive and reinstall the macOS as a fresh start. This should resolve issues once you install applications that showed issues on previous system. Since the issues are resolved here, it is clear that drive itself was causing issues.

Let’s assume such is not the case and the issues come back. If such happens, it is more likely that the new operating system upgrade is not compatible to the applications that are crashing. The resolution on such situation is only to go back to the previous system that did not have issues. The developers of the incompatible applications need to rollout the updates to patch up the bugs.

Do you have issues after you upgraded your system? Let the developers know about the applications crash. And they will surely begin to work on issues and may bring fixes soon.

What if the developers ignore the ongoing issues? What happens when developers abandon applications?

It is quite unfortunate that developers abandon their applications or stop supporting them. When such thing happens, we require to either stay with the compatible operating system or move forward to replace those with the better ones. The wiser decision is to move forward. As technology develops, the developers require to support their works accordingly.

How important is the new updates or upgrades as they come out?

Up to date operating systems are for work efficiency, security and reliability. Staying with outdated operating system may render unexpected issues and become vulnerable to external attacks. Keep your macOS up to date. Update when possible. Also pay attention if many users report update flaws or bugs. Wait for a while for a new update rollout. Stay smart and stay safe. Rush in update installation may cause issues. Research first and apply in your environment.

macOS High Sierra is secure and full of features. But it is also showing quite some bugs. People are having issues all around the world. As the issues are reported widely, the fixes will surely come out. Wait for new updates. And as they come, install safely. This is a safer approach. And it will help keep the system running.
